What you should know about Storms
There’s a story in the Bible where Jesus and His disciples were crossing the Sea of Galilee. Suddenly, a furious storm arose, waves crashing into their boat, threatening to capsize it. But where was Jesus? Asleep, in the midst of the chaos. Panicked, the disciples woke Him, asking, "Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?"
Jesus arose, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still." Instantly, the storm ceased, and calm returned. But Jesus then questioned their faith, asking why they were so afraid. It was a moment where the disciples learned that, with Jesus in the boat, they were never truly at risk of drowning.
This story reminds us that sometimes God will calm the storm around us, like He did for the disciples. Other times, He’ll calm the storm within us, giving us the strength to endure. It’s in these moments that He teaches us to trust, to lean into His peace rather than our panic.
Even when the storm rages on, remember: He is in control and won’t let you drown. Trust the One who can speak peace into any situation, whether it’s the sea or your soul.
Reflection & Action: Storms can be unsettling, but they also reveal where our trust truly lies. Are you more focused on the waves, or on the One who walks on them? Take a few moments today to reflect on this: What might God be trying to teach you through your current challenges? Write down one way you can lean into His presence, even if the storm isn't over yet.
