What we think thanksgiving is

Thanksgiving often feels like it’s reserved for moments when we turn to God in gratitude, and rightly so—He deserves it all. But have you ever stopped to think about how powerful it is to give thanks to people as well?

I was reflecting on this and realized how easy it is to overlook the people God uses to bless us. From the friend who checks in during tough times to the stranger who offers a smile when you least expect it, these small gestures are evidence of God’s hand in our lives.

As I thought about this, I remembered the story of Paul in Philippians 1:3-5. He writes, “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” Paul’s letters often carried heartfelt gratitude—not just to God but also to the people who supported him.

By giving thanks to others, we acknowledge their role in God’s plan for our lives. It’s a way of honoring them and reflecting God’s love. A simple "thank you" can encourage, uplift, and remind someone that their efforts matter.

So yes, let’s continue to give thanks to God, but let’s not forget to extend that same gratitude to the people around us. It’s one of the ways we can mirror His heart.

Reflective Question: Who in your life deserves a heartfelt “thank you” today?

Verse of the Day: 1 Thessalonians 5:18- Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Song of the Day: Way maker but Jazz and soothing.
