This is very disappointing
There’s a story making rounds about NBA legend Dwyane Wade. For those who may not follow basketball, Wade is a beloved player and one of the greatest to play for the Miami Heat. Recently, a wax statue was created in his honor. But when it was unveiled, Wade’s reaction spoke volumes—it didn’t look like him at all. Fans were quick to point out the disappointing likeness. “I know who Dwyane Wade is, but who is that?” one person commented. Another added, “The way he kept circling that thing broke my heart. He wanted to love it. He really did.”
This moment with Wade reminds us of something we all experience: disappointment when reality doesn’t match our expectations. Wade had imagined a tribute that captured who he was, but what he got fell short. How often do we face situations where things don’t turn out as we hoped—a job, a relationship, or even our plans for the future? Yet, unlike a wax statue that misses the mark, God’s plans for us are perfect. When we feel let down, we can remember that God never disappoints. He knows exactly who we are and what we need, even when life doesn’t look like we envisioned.
Reflection & Action: Think of a recent disappointment. Bring it to God and ask Him to help you trust His perfect plan, even when things don’t look like what you expected.
