This came out of nowhere

Apostle Paul survives a shipwreck—miraculously, everyone makes it to shore. Cold and wet, Paul gathers wood to make a fire, only for a snake to bite him! The islanders immediately jump to conclusions: “This guy must be cursed!” But as they watch and wait for him to drop dead, nothing happens. Suddenly, their opinion flips: “He must be a god!” (Acts 28:1-6).

Paul’s story reminds us how quickly people’s opinions can change. One moment, they doubt you; the next, they praise you. But Paul doesn’t get caught up in their assumptions—he stays focused on what truly matters: trusting God and staying the course.

Maybe you’ve been in Paul’s shoes—misjudged, underestimated, or written off by others. Or perhaps you’ve been quick to jump to conclusions about someone else.

Here’s the twist: neither the snakebite nor the people’s opinions stopped Paul from walking in God’s purpose. In the same way, don’t let others’ opinions define you. And don’t let life’s “snakebites” make you doubt what God is doing in your life.

God can use even the unexpected moments—the shipwrecks, the snakebites, the misjudgments—to show His power and bring about His plans. Trust Him.

Reflection: How do you react when people misjudge you or life throws you a curveball? Pray for the strength to stay focused on God’s purpose, no matter what comes your way.
