The simple prayer works every time- Try it

There’s a powerful story in Mark 10:46-52 about a blind man named Bartimaeus. As Jesus passed by, Bartimaeus cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” People around him told him to be quiet, but he only shouted louder. Jesus stopped, called him over, and asked, “What do you want me to do for you?” Bartimaeus responded, “Rabbi, I want to see,” and Jesus healed him on the spot. All Bartimaeus had was a simple prayer, but it carried sincerity and faith.

Sometimes, we think we need long, eloquent prayers to move God’s heart. But Bartimaeus shows us it’s not about fancy words—it’s about desperation, humility, and faith. “Jesus Christ of Nazareth, have mercy on me” might be the simplest yet most powerful prayer you can utter. When we come to Jesus acknowledging our need and believing in His power, He responds.

Reflection: What situation in your life requires this simple, heartfelt cry? Don’t wait—call out to Him today with faith and expectancy.
