The car rental experience
I had an event the other day that required renting a bigger vehicle to accommodate all the event supplies. It was a great ride—spacious, smooth, and exactly what was needed for the occasion.
But when the event was over, it was time to return it. No matter how much I enjoyed driving it, I knew from the start—it wasn’t mine to keep. I was only a steward of it for a short while.
That rental car made me think—isn’t that how life is?
Everything we have—our time, resources, gifts, even the people in our lives—none of it is truly ours. We are just stewards, entrusted for a season. But sometimes, we hold on too tightly, forgetting that one day, we’ll have to return it all.
What are you holding onto like it’s permanent? Your success, your possessions, even your very breath—it’s all on loan from God. Steward it well, but don’t mistake it for ownership. Corinthians 4:2 – “Moreover, it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.”
