Psalm 30:5
Watched a soccer match the other day, and the camera panned to this little boy—couldn’t have been more than 7 years old.
His team was trailing by two goals with just a few minutes left on the clock.
The poor boy was visibly sobbing. Tears running down, face buried in his scarf.
Then his team scored. Equalizer.
About 49 seconds later, they scored again—winning goal.
The camera found him again.
This same boy who was crying moments earlier? Now jumping, laughing, screaming for joy.
That image stayed with me. One moment, tears. The next, joy. Isn’t that what life feels like sometimes?
We’ve all been that kid—burdened with pain, overwhelmed by how things look. Maybe the clock's ticking and you think the breakthrough won’t come.
But Psalm 30:5 reminds us:
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”
God is not done yet. He’s not ignoring your tears. In fact, just like in that match, the turnaround could be just 49 seconds away. Hold on.
Reflection: What’s one area where you’re tempted to give up right before the whistle? Ask God for strength to wait—your morning is coming.
Prayer: Lord, help me hold on through the weeping, trusting that Your joy will come. Teach me to praise You even in the pause between the pain and the promise.
