Prodigal Son

One of the top stories in the Bible is that of the prodigal son. A man had two sons. The younger one asked for his share of the inheritance, squandered it on reckless living, and returned home destitute. The father welcomed him back with open arms and a feast. However, the elder son, who had stayed and worked diligently, was grumpy and resentful, feeling overlooked despite his loyalty.

The elder son in the prodigal story was dutiful and obedient but harbored resentment and jealousy towards his brother. His grumpy attitude and lack of compassion reveal a heart that was not truly aligned with his father's love and forgiveness. This reminds us that it’s possible to do the right things with the wrong attitude. Regular self-examination before the Holy Spirit is essential to ensure our hearts are pure and filled with grace, rather than bitterness.

Verse of the Day: Ephesians 4:31-32. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Here’s a good song to start your week. “Who you say I am”
