Other people's Business
There’s a moment in Luke 10 where a lawyer stood up to test Jesus and asked, “Who is my neighbor?”
In response, Jesus told the parable of the Good Samaritan.
A man had been robbed, beaten, and left for dead.
Two people passed by—a priest and a Levite.
Both saw him.
Both kept walking.
They had their reasons—maybe they didn’t want to get involved.
Maybe it wasn’t their business.
Then came a Samaritan.
He could’ve said, “Not my tribe, not my problem.”
Instead, he stepped in.
He bandaged the man, carried him to safety, paid for his care, and promised to return.
It’s not always easy to know when to step in. But love doesn’t cross the road and walk away. It stops. It sees. It helps.
You won’t be able to fix everything—but that one moment of obedience might be someone’s lifeline.
And when you’re not sure whether to get involved, pray first.
If God is nudging you, don’t ignore it.
Sometimes, your compassion is the healing someone’s been waiting for.
Reflection: Who around you might be lying wounded—physically, emotionally, or spiritually? What would it look like to “cross the road” today and extend help?
Verse of the Day: Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
