Let this be a gentle reminder
Herod threw a lavish birthday party. The atmosphere was electric, and his stepdaughter’s dance performance thrilled everyone—including him. In a moment of unfiltered excitement and pride, Herod made a bold promise:
“Ask me for anything you want, and I’ll give it to you… even up to half of my kingdom.” (Mark 6:23)
It sounded generous, noble even—but it was reckless.
She consulted her mother and asked for the head of John the Baptist.
Herod was distressed, but because he had spoken publicly—and in a moment of uncontrolled emotion—he felt he had no choice.
And just like that, excitement turned into regret.
I’ve read this story multiple times, and I did again a few days ago—and it hit differently.
Excitement, unchecked, can make you say things you can’t unsay.
Herod was caught up in the moment, and it cost an innocent man his life.
Let this be a gentle reminder:
Never make decisions when you're too excited, too angry, or too emotional.
Pause. Pray. Think.
Verse of the Day: Ecclesiastes 5:2 Don’t make rash promises, and don’t be hasty in bringing matters before God. After all, God is in heaven, and you are here on earth. So let your words be few.
