I know God is in control, but what should we do to relax?

I saw this post that says: “You relax on a bus without knowing the driver. You relax on a plane without knowing the pilot. Why not relax in life knowing God is in control?”

It got me thinking about the story of the Israelites in Exodus 14. When they stood before the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army closing in, panic took over. But Moses spoke to them, saying, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14).

The Israelites had no idea how they’d be saved, but God had a plan beyond what they could see.

Now, you might be thinking, “I know God is in control, but what should I do to relax?” Trusting God doesn’t mean doing nothing—it means choosing faith over worry. It means reminding yourself of His promises when fear tries to creep in. He promised He’s in control and won’t let us down. In Isaiah 41:10, God says, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.”

Relaxing in His control means letting go of the need to have all the answers and leaning into the peace He offers. It’s like being on that bus or plane—trusting the One who’s guiding you, even when the journey is uncertain.

Reflection & Action: Think of an area of your life where you’ve been trying to control every detail. What would it look like to release that to God?

Verse of the Day: Isaiah 41:10 – “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
