I don't know what to even say

Last week, I went to visit someone and decided to get them a phone charger on my way. Shortly after I left, the person messaged me saying someone had taken the charger but left the phone with just the cable.

In my mind, I shrugged it off and thought, Well, at least the phone wasn’t stolen.

The next day, a friend left me a voice note saying that the person’s phone was stolen while it was charging somewhere else.

As I thought about it, something about the whole situation lingered in my heart. I couldn’t help but reflect on how often we let our guard down after a small warning or setback. The charger was stolen, yet the phone was left unprotected, leading to an even bigger loss.

It reminded me of Jesus' words to His disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane: “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41).

Jesus wasn’t just talking about staying physically alert but also spiritually vigilant. How often do we get a nudge from God—a reminder to pray, a conviction to act—but dismiss it, thinking everything is under control? And then, like the unguarded phone, we find ourselves caught off guard.

This story reminds us to stay watchful in both the little things and the big ones. It’s not about living in fear but about living with wisdom and readiness.

Verse of the Day: Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1Peter 5:8
