How to approach the throne of Grace

There’s this beautiful story in the Bible about the prodigal son. After squandering everything, he rehearsed a speech to beg his father for forgiveness. But before he could even finish, his father ran to him, hugged him, and called for a celebration. His love and compassion for his son were overwhelming—no speech required (Luke 15:20-24).

Maybe you feel unworthy to approach God. You’ve rehearsed “I’m sorry” so many times that it feels empty. But here’s the truth: God doesn’t need a perfect speech. The moment you turn to Him, His heart overflows with love and compassion. Come boldly to His throne of grace. You’ll find a Father who is ready to embrace you, no questions asked.

But let’s also remember not to take God’s grace for granted. Just because He forgives doesn’t mean we should live carelessly, thinking we can always say “sorry” and move on. In the same way, we shouldn’t abuse the forgiveness of people in our lives. Apologies should come from a place of true repentance, not a habit of carelessness.

God’s grace is a gift, not a license. Approach Him with humility and gratitude, knowing His love is endless but His grace calls us to transformation.

Reflection/Prayer: Lord, thank You for always receiving me with open arms. Teach me to come to You boldly, trusting in Your endless grace and love. Amen.
