How not to make a wrong decision

After a battle, David returned to find his home in Ziklag raided by the Amalekites—everything was taken, including his family. Overwhelmed with grief, David did something crucial: he didn’t rush to ask everyone what to do. Instead, he inquired of the Lord: “Shall I pursue this raiding party?” God answered, “Pursue them—you will surely overtake them and succeed” (1 Samuel 30:8).

David’s decision to ask God first led to victory and the recovery of all that was lost.

Sometimes, we run around asking everyone—friends, family, even social media—for advice. But that can leave us more confused than ever. It reminds me of the saying, “If you want to make the wrong decision, ask everyone.” David did the opposite: he went straight to God, and God led him to victory.

So, when you’re unsure, start by talking to God. Let Him guide your heart, and watch how He clears the way. Sometimes, the best advice doesn’t come from a crowd—it comes from the One who knows you best.

Reflection: Which voice do you usually turn to first? Today, try asking God before anyone else.
