He Used to Lie About Being Sick... Now He Is
I recently watched a YouTube video about a man who used to lie about being sick to gain sympathy and financial aid, especially from church communities. He would create elaborate stories, claiming to have illnesses like asthma and even HIV, just to manipulate others. But over time, the very diseases he lied about began to manifest in his life. At 26, he was diagnosed with HIV. Reflecting on his life, he admitted, “I didn’t understand the power of my tongue until I realized everything, I lied about came to pass.”
Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue has the power of life and death.” The man’s story reminds us how powerful our words are—they shape realities and influence outcomes. What we speak, whether truth or deceit, life or negativity, has the potential to take root.
James 3:6 calls the tongue a spark that can set a forest ablaze. God calls us to use our words wisely—to speak blessings, not curses, and to declare His promises over our lives.
Reflection: What will you speak into your life today? Choose your words wisely—they have the power to shape your future. I'd love to hear from you! Email me back and share what declarations you're making over your life today.
