Flight Cancelled
I was at the airport the other day, waiting for my flight after it had been canceled more than four times. Frustrated but trying to stay patient, I sat near an air hostess and struck up a conversation.
"Excuse me, can I ask you something?" I said. She smiled. "Sure!"
I asked, "What’s the most fun and the most difficult part of your job?" She thought for a moment before answering.
"The fun part?" she said with a grin. "I get to meet and interact with so many people every day. It’s exciting!"
"And the most difficult?" I asked. She sighed. "Honestly, not having control over so many things—delays, weather, cancellations… There's nothing I can do about them.
As I thought about the air hostess’ words, something clicked.
So much of life is just like that. We don’t have control over so many things—delays, disappointments, setbacks. We plan, prepare, and expect things to go a certain way, but then suddenly, the "weather" of life shifts, and we’re left waiting, frustrated, and wondering why.
Like the air hostess, we have two choices: live in frustration over what we can’t control or trust the One who is always in control.
Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
If we only trust God when things go as planned, is that really trust? Faith is built in the waiting seasons, in the delays, in the moments when we have no control.
Whatever you’re waiting on today—trust God. His plan never has cancellations.
Reflection: What’s one area of your life where you need to release control and trust God’s timing?
