Father, You Said You Would

God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change His mind.
Does He speak and not act? Does He promise and not fulfill? Numbers 23:19

I came across a post that made me pause and smile.
A father had told his teenage son that he’d send him money for lunch since they both left home in a rush that morning. Nothing dramatic, just a quick, casual promise.
But not long after, the dad’s phone buzzed:
“Hey Dad. Just reminding you… you said you’d send lunch money .”

The son didn’t say “if you can,” or “never mind if you're too busy.”
He just sent the message with full expectation. Not entitlement, just trust.

Because he knew his father.

That one message stuck with me. The boy didn’t doubt, he wasn’t unsure.
He believed his dad’s words were reliable.

So he reminded him confidently.

And it hit me:
Why do we hesitate to do the same with our Heavenly Father? We tiptoe in prayer.
We water down our requests. We act like God might change His mind or forget what He promised.
But Scripture says:
“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”

Reflection: What’s something God has promised that you’ve been afraid to bring up again? Is it provision, healing, peace in your home, direction for your future?

Maybe today is the day to open your mouth or your heart and send your own version of:
“Hey Dad… just reminding You.”

Prayer: Father, thank You for being a God who never breaks His word.
Help me trust You the way a child trusts their parent without overthinking, without fear, and without shame. Remind me of what You’ve said, and give me the boldness to hold on to it.

Song of the Day: I need thee every hour
