- Envy prevents blessing
Envy prevents blessing
There’s a story in the Bible about Saul and David. After David defeated Goliath, the people of Israel celebrated his victory with singing and dancing. They praised David, saying, “Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands” (1 Samuel 18:7).
Instead of celebrating alongside his people, Saul allowed envy to creep into his heart. He became angry and jealous of David’s success, and that envy began to consume him. Rather than rejoicing in God’s favor on David’s life, Saul saw David as a threat and let bitterness take root.
Sometimes when we hear about someone else's blessings, it's easy to think, "When is that going to happen to me?" It’s human, but envy robs us of peace and gratitude. Instead of dwelling on what you don’t have, open your mouth and say loud, “I’m happy for them!” Celebrate others, because their testimony is proof that God is still in the business of blessing.
The blessings God has for you are unique and perfectly timed. Don’t let comparison steal your joy. Rejoice in the success of others, trusting that your own blessings are on the way.
God’s plans for you are never delayed, and His timing is always perfect.
Prayer: Lord, purge my heart of envy.
