Elijah’s story

There’s this story about Elijah that never ceases to amaze me. Imagine this: Elijah stood on Mount Carmel and boldly challenged 450 prophets of Baal. He called down fire from heaven—fire! —to prove that the Lord is the one true God. I want you to picture the triumph of the moment.

Long after, a single message from Jezebel sent him spiraling. Fear gripped him so tightly that he fled into the wilderness, overwhelmed and asking God to take his life. From fire on Mount Carmel to fear in the wilderness. He suddenly feel so broken.

As I reflected on Elijah’s story, it hit me: fear has a way of blurring our view of God’s faithfulness. It’s easy to forget yesterday’s miracles when today’s challenges feel overwhelming. But here’s the truth: the God who answered Elijah with fire on Mount Carmel is the same God who met him tenderly in the wilderness.

God didn’t rebuke Elijah for his fear. Instead, He cared for him—sending an angel to feed him, letting him rest, and reminding him of His presence through a gentle whisper. Elijah’s story teaches us that fear doesn’t disqualify us from God’s grace.

If God has been faithful before, He is still faithful now. Trust that He’s walking with you, even when fear tries to convince you otherwise.

Pause & Reflect: Is fear blurring your view of God’s faithfulness? What reminders of His past miracles do you need to hold on to today?

Verse of the Day: So, do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”Isaiah 41:10
