“Can we all make this place vibrate with praise?

I was somewhere earlier this week, and during the eulogy, people wore long faces—including me. Rightly so, because we are human. Then, one elderly man stood up and charged the congregation. He said, “Can we all make this place vibrate with praise? It's a celebration, for God's sake!” Then on my way back home, I thought about David and this dropped in my heart.

I love how David commanded his soul to bless God, saying, “Bless the Lord, O my soul!” (Psalm 103:1). It’s a reminder that we won’t always feel like praising, but that’s when we need to speak to ourselves the most.

Sometimes, we let our emotions lead, but David shows us the power of choosing praise—even when it’s hard. Command your soul to focus on God’s goodness, not on the weight of the moment. Don’t let your feelings have the final say; let praise rise instead.
