be like the antelope

There’s this story in the Bible about Mary, the mother of Jesus. When the angel told her she’d give birth to the Savior, it was the most incredible news anyone could receive. But what did she do? Did she run around announcing it to everyone? No, the Bible says she “treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart” (Luke 2:19). Mary kept her blessing close, letting God’s plan unfold quietly and in His timing.

There’s wisdom in moving quietly, like the antelope in the wild. It doesn’t announce itself or make unnecessary noise, knowing that it could draw predators close. The antelope understands that silence is sometimes the best way to stay safe and avoid trouble.

In the same way, when blessings come into our lives, we don’t always need to shout about them. Sometimes, silence is a form of strength that allows God’s work to grow without interference. Be wise—when blessings come, stay humble and trust God’s timing to reveal them.

Reflection: Are there blessings in your life that you need to keep close to your heart? How can you practice wisdom by moving quietly and trusting in God’s timing?
