Be careful who you fight

One of the most gripping stories in the NEw Testament is about Paul, formerly called Said. He was fierce, zealous, committed to one mission: to destroy the church. He was dragging Christians out of their homes, approving executions, and hunting down believers like enemies of the state.
But everything changed one day on the road to Damascus. He had plans, big ones for that matter. He had authority, permission and momentum. But God had other plans. Jesus interrupted his mission with a flash of light and a voice from heaven:
“Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting ME?”(Acts 9:4)

The voice did not say, ”Why are you persecuting Christians?”
But… “Why are you persecuting ME?”

There are things God takes personal. When you fight God's people, resist God's leading, or oppose what He's doing, you’re not just wrestling with people... you may be resisting God Himself. Paul thought he was doing the right thing. Thought he was protecting tradition. But he was actually fighting against the very God he claimed to serve.

Be careful who you fight, you maybe fighting God Himself.

Reflection: Is there someone I’m criticizing, judging, or tearing down when God might be using them? Am I resisting a move of God because it doesn’t look the way I expected?
