Be Careful What You Wish Others

There’s a story in the Bible that always gets me thinking. A man named Haman held a high-ranking position in the king’s court. He had influence, authority, and the king’s ear. But there was one man he couldn’t stand—Mordecai, a simple gatekeeper who refused to bow to him.
Haman didn’t just get upset—he plotted. He built a huge gallows, fully prepared to hang Mordecai. He even got the king’s approval for it.

But just when it looked like everything was going Haman’s way… things flipped.

The king honored Mordecai for something he had done long ago. And in an unexpected turn of events, Haman was the one hanged on the very gallows he built for someone else. (Esther 7:10)

Bitterness has a way of backfiring.
The harm you wish others might just circle back around.
It’s a reminder that your heart posture matters. When you start plotting someone else’s downfall, you might just be building your own.

Choose humility over hate. Choose grace over grudges. And when someone annoys you or seems to be in your way, pause—don’t dig a hole for them. You might fall into it yourself.

Reflection: Who have you been secretly wishing would fall? What if instead, you prayed for them today?

Verse of the Day: Whoever digs a pit will fall into it; if someone rolls a stone, it will roll back on them.
