Avoid this mindset

I was chatting with a friend recently about how we’ve gotten so used to waiting for things. Whether it’s waiting in line, waiting for a package to arrive, or waiting for important news, we’ve come to accept that some things just take time. This mindset often carries over into our spiritual lives. We're so accustomed to delayed answers from God that some people have stopped believing in instant miracles or immediate answers to prayer.

This got me thinking about the story of Peter walking on water. When Peter saw Jesus walking on the water, he asked to join Him. Jesus simply said, “Come.” Immediately, Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on the water towards Jesus. But when Peter noticed the wind and waves, he became afraid and started to sink. Instantly, Jesus reached out His hand and caught him (Matthew 14:29-31).

This story reminds us that God’s power is not limited by time. While we often experience His work in our lives through gradual change and development, He is also the God of the instant miracle. We mustn’t let our past experiences or the world's mindset of delayed gratification diminish our faith in God's ability to act immediately.

Verse of the Day: Matthew 14:31 (NIV) - “Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. ‘You of little faith,’ he said, ‘why did you doubt?’”

Reflection: Reflect on times when you’ve seen God work instantly in your life. How can you maintain your faith in both the immediate and the delayed answers to prayer? Remember, God’s timing is perfect, whether it’s instant or takes time.

Song of the Day: Miracle Worker" by JJ Hairston. This song reminds us of God’s power to perform miracles, both instant and over time.
